Maryland Governor Wes Moore signed a bill on Thursday for permanent state funding to the University of Maryland Institute for Health Computing<\/a><\/u><\/strong> (UM-IHC<\/strong>) in North Bethesda.  The terms of the bill signed last week would provide $1.5 million through the University of Maryland Strategic Partnership: MPowering the State<\/em> <\/strong>(MPower<\/strong>) in Fiscal Year 2026, increasing to $6 million each year beginning in Fiscal Year 2029. The Institute, created in 2022, is a signature strategic program of MPower<\/em>, in partnership with the University of Maryland Medical System.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other funding support comes from Montgomery County, who has committed $40 million to the project over five years, matched by a $30 million commitment from MPower<\/em> over six years.  

UM-IHC<\/a><\/strong> aims to create a premier learning health care system that leverages artificial intelligence and computing to diagnose, prevent and treat diseases in patients across the state. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
