{"id":14805,"date":"2023-09-11T14:46:03","date_gmt":"2023-09-11T14:46:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mpower.maryland.edu\/?p=14805"},"modified":"2023-09-11T15:05:44","modified_gmt":"2023-09-11T15:05:44","slug":"presidents-entrepreneurial-fellowship-applications-due-october-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mpower.maryland.edu\/presidents-entrepreneurial-fellowship-applications-due-october-10\/","title":{"rendered":"President&#8217;s Entrepreneurial Fellowship Applications Due in October"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Published in <a href=\"https:\/\/elm.umaryland.edu\/announcements\/2023\/Presidents-Entrepreneurial-Fellowship-Applications-Due-Oct-10.php?utm_source=The%20Elm%20Weekly%2C%20Week%20of%20September%2011%2C%202023\">The Elm<\/a>   |   September 6, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The President\u2019s Entrepreneurial Fellowship (PEF) is an exclusive opportunity for students to obtain hands-on training and experience advancing real-world, early-stage business ventures based on discoveries made by UMB faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The interdisciplinary teams engage in a variety of projects to evaluate specific UMB technologies; identify market opportunities, funding sources, and strategic partners; or develop business, legal, and regulatory strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples of projects from previous years include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Design of a clinical trial of a novel drug for cancer treatment<\/li><li>Identification of organizations (contract research organizations and contract development and manufacturing organizations) for drug manufacturing and pre-investigational new drug (IND) studies<\/li><li>Market and intellectual property analyses of the landscape of CAR-NK cells for tumor malignancies<\/li><li>Investigation of investment opportunities and marketing strategies for a medical device with a niche market<\/li><li>Use of a combination of wet lab experiments and a machine learning approach for drug repurposing<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The fellowship is a paid, part-time, and remote opportunity for students from one of UMB\u2019s schools and the Robert H. Smith School of Business.
